In-house toy design internship for Fisher-Price and Mattel brands, focused on Thomas & Friends and Think & Learn.
As an intern, I supported many projects at various stages, and was more responsible for smooth transition of projects to ease Senior Designer workloads and iterate and execute on the need for each item. While on the Thomas team, most projects were based on collectible figures, configurable playsets, and watch-me play, with low overall price points emphasizing value items. Our target markets were middle-income families with boys and girls as old as 6.
On Think & Learn, all items had some STEAM component, asking children to learn through play. Many items have electronic components, and the challenges therein encouraged me to dive deeper into Interactive play as a category of growth and personal development. Our target market for these items were higher-income families with boys and girls as old as 4.

Catering to creative, tinkering minds, Wonder Makers takes inspiration from LEGO, Tinker Toys, and sustainable furniture, and offers a wide range of price points and features. The basic starter kit includes track pieces and a vehicle, and expansions focus on wider play area, different themed locations, and unique stylized vehicles.
